Parking Tickets = Evil Empire

Posted by Bruno on August 31st, 2007

My extremely subtle effort to register my annoyance with the City of Seattle’s bureaucracy through careful selection of postage stamps continued today. Finally mailed my Viaduct ballot today, with a big fat “No-No”. This was a tough one. I considered a “yes” vote on the tunnel, because, when it comes down to it, sure I’d like a $3.4B tunnel through downtown. If the state’s gonna pick up the bulk of the tab, why not? [...]

I’m not an archecture critic, but I am a big fan. And the first thing that hits [...]

Phoneblogging: Baghdad to Belgrade Edition

Posted by Bruno on January 31st, 2005

On this, the week of Iraqi elections, this image seemed poignant:

I was at Seattle’s wonderful MOHAI museum yesterday, where they have an exhibit celebrating the first round-the-world flight, in 1924, which took off from Seattle. One of the pilots wrote this passage in his journal en route from Belgrade to Baghdad. In case [...]

Phoneblogging: Sage Advice

Posted by Bruno on December 21st, 2004

I’m thinking about a new feature here at B&P, we’ll call it “Phoneblogging.” In september, I moved to the 21st century by getting my first camera phone. So let’s start it out with some sage advice from the New York City Subway:

There’s a joke in here somewhere about Social Security and the “third [...]
