Would Barney Frank ever have been able to talk about regulating the banking sector had it not been for Bush’s Bear Stearns bailout? That’s why Bush may be the most progressive-liberal president since, uh, Jimmy Carter. (Sorry, Bill!)
Unconvinced? What about John McCain running around Europe pandering about Kyoto and torture and “reestablishing diplomacy”?

The West Blogosphere and Democrats are in an unbelievable tizzy about Obama’s race speech, trying to figure out what it all means and whether it’s good or bad for Obama, and good or bad for Democrats, and what was he thinking talking to voters like adults (thank you Jon Stewart, for calling it what it [...]
Matt Yglesias really gets at the central point:

The Times may have blown it by spending so much time pussy-footing around with the infidelity innuendo–the real story is the lobbyist entanglements McCain has apparently decided to lie about. Because of the shoddy sex scandal lens through which the Times has focused, McCain may not have to account for himself.

McCain seemed to take the lead by a point with around 75% of precincts reporting. When the count reached 87.2% [...]

I continue to marvel at David Axelrod’s ability to manage the momentum of the Obama campaign. He’s locked [...]
I can’t really watch the whole GOP debate, because it’s at the Reagan Library and the Reagan worshipping is too out of control.
But I did flip to it and see the four remaining candidates — Huckabee, Paul, Romney, and McCain — sitting next to each other. And it struck me… what an [...]
Thank the high heavens, Rudy Giuliani and his band of nutty, nutty advisors will not be getting their hands on the nuclear launch codes any time soon.
John McCain, however, is now the front runner, promising, in the words of Joe Scarborough, “less jobs and more wars.” Check it:

Giuliani the statesman:
Rudolph W. Giuliani likens himself to a boxer who never takes a punch without swinging back. As mayor, he made the vengeful roundhouse an instrument of government, clipping anyone who crossed him.
In August 1997, James Schillaci, a rough-hewn chauffeur from the Bronx, dialed Mayor Giuliani’s radio program on WABC-AM to complain about a [...]
