Wolfie Bites it Again

Posted by Matski on April 12th, 2007

Cue America’s favorite combover — Paul Wolfowitz is in trouble again.  Turns out the guy who was so self-righteous that more than 3000 young Americans are dead, and over 25,000 horribly wounded, couldn’t separate the thing in his pants from his job.
What is it with these Bush guys?  I just can’t tell.  It’s not really [...]

The meaningless and pork-laden vote to end the Iraq war was something special. But then Democrats do one better by resurrecting the Equal Rights Amendment. No, seriously:
“Women’s equality has been for too long a dream deferred,” Congessmember Carolyn Maloney declared as she joined with several other House and Senate members last week to reintroduce the [...]

The Voters’ Minds

Posted by Bruno on March 18th, 2007

The Washington Post’s David Broder, today, writing on why congressional investigations might go too far:
Accountability is certainly important, but Democrats must know that people were really voting for action on Iraq, health care, immigration, energy and a few other problems.
The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza, writing after the 2006 elections:
As reported by CNN, exit [...]

Ten years ago or so, media consolidation was predicted to be the precursor to the Fall of the Republic. Consolidation will eliminate choice, destroy local flavor in broadcasting, and generally turn our children into mindless zombies enslaved to corporations like McDonald’s and the Gap.
Admitedly, I was in the camp with the naysayers.
The only problem [...]

Loyal Heights

Posted by Bruno on February 20th, 2007

I’m always loathe to blame the victim in these sort of things, but what the hell are you doing walking around Loyal Heights at 2 in the morning?!
It’s not a bad neighborhood, at all, just a really random place to be on foot.

Initiative Woes

Posted by Bruno on February 8th, 2007

In 2006 Washington Voters wisely rejected I-933. We had a good reason, after all: Oregon’s Measure 37 f**ked that state up real good. Less than two years after passing a majority of Oregon residents want to repeal 37. And more than 3 in 5 want the legislation to fix it for them.
In [...]

One of the best examples of the improper use of e-mail that we’ve seen in some time:
Hundreds of would-be staffers in Gov. Spitzer’s administration were nervously biting their nails yesterday after an e-mail address list of job seekers accidentally became public.
One applicant, with strong ties to Assembly Republicans, told The Post he feared he [...]

Ballot Initiatives Revisted

Posted by Matski on December 18th, 2006

I revile the Governor’s decision to put the tunnel to a vote.
So, in protest, here’s my commentary on why ballot initiatives (and direct democracy generally) are bad.

Asshatas!

Just when you assumed college kids couldn’t possibly be more out of touch with reality comes proof that they are, in fact, even more out of touch with reality than you previously assumed, and apparently have been for a long time:
The City College of New York will remove from one of its community centers the [...]

Ah, Undergrads . . . How Quaint!

Posted by Contrarian on December 12th, 2006

Fortunately for the rest of us, no one really pays attention to either Ward Churchill or doucheturd college students:
An ethnic studies professor from the University of Colorado, Ward Churchill, received a standing ovation last night from a crowd of more than 200 New School students after blaming the 2001 World Trade Center attacks on America’s [...]
