Might I recommend these newish musicals as more nuanced choices. They are well written, interesting, and have good music:

Tom — that was my point. Grease (the stage version, not the sanitized Film version), was racy, raunchy, and ground-breaking in it’s oh-so-much-fun fantasy of 1950′s America.
