Even though I’m part of a high-profile political blogging machine, I have to say that I don’t care so much about the 2008 Presidential election right now. For me, that’s OK — I can be Contrarian like that.
Which is to say that as I don’t follow the race, I do happen to notice headlines on Drudge, for example, that read “Another Day, Another Debate: Clinton, Obama Take Heat From Rivals…” and “VIDEO: Clinton Booed in Obama Hometown Face-Off…” I gather that she’s taking some heat from the rest of the pack and the Democratic base.
So it got me thinking — if I don’t give a poop about the election right now (and I would describe myself as at least somewhat engaged in current events) then aren’t there about a gazillion other people who are similarly disengaged right now? And if that’s true, then does the Clinton campaign think that this general-impression sense is actually a net positive for her? By getting dissed by the Democratic base, she’s basically scoring big points with moderate-to-conservative voters, right? And the beauty of it is that she doesn’t even have to say anything to do it! That’s brilliant, isn’t it?
Or am I being Drudged here and I don’t even know it?
