But you’re right that Hillary’s running for the general election. She’s secure in her frontrunner status and so she’s not interested in tacking left to win the nomination.
What that means, if she wins the nomination, is that she’s going to be presented to the general public as rather moderate, not the liberal she-devil that the conservative press has made her out to be. So in that sense, I definitely agree that it’s helping her to be taking heat from her primary opponents.
However, I don’t think it’s quite right to say that she “doesn’t have to say anything.” Quite the opposite. It’s precisely because of what she IS saying — that she’ll continue to accept money from lobbyists, that she’ll retain her right to nuke Pakistan, that she won’t deliver on universal health care, etc. — that she’s getting dissed by the Democratic base.
