It’s not that I think that Hillary Clinton is unqualified (I don’t), or that I think she would make a poor president (not any worse than most of the other candidates, and a damn sight better than any of this year’s GOP ship of fools.)
It’s that there’s been a Bush or a Clinton holding the office of the presidency since 1989. If you include the vice presidency, it’s 1981.
Did we ditch a line of royalty only to replace it with competing lines of de facto royalty? Surely with 300 million citizens, we can find a little variety.
As a thought exercise, pretend that Hillary Clinton wins and serves two terms, leaving office in 2017. You’d think we’d be done, because which Bush scion is going to be crazy enough to try to follow George W’s class act? I like this theory, but it ignores that Chelsea Clinton is eligible to run in 2016.
