Chief, nice juxtaposition of non-so-dueling banjos.

Still, I see the fact that the debate over Foley’s follies has morphed into a discussion of his closeted homosexuality profoundly disturbing.  I saw the headline on Drudge yesterday — Foley Says He Was Abused by a Clergyman… – and I said to myself “oh, shit, here it comes.”  Of COURSE the GOP spinmeisters are going to do anything to make Foley a sympathetic victim.  Anyway, this is the way the GOP works — claim to be the party of individual responsibility: blame poverty on the poor, but make the personal transgressions of some privileged white f*ck the result of some childhood trauma beyond his control.

The issue here isn’t whether Foley’s gay — big f’in’ deal.  The issue is the man’s possible shadow candidacy for the NAMBLA presidency.
