Team Minnesota

Ah, the wild, wacky, wonderful world of Minnesota politics.  From the state that brought you the “really, we’re Democrats” DFL, Jesse the Body’s Reform Party (now the Independence Party), and was a “stronghold” of the good old New Party comes Team Minnesota.

From their website:

Minnesotans spend about $1 million a year on 5 people elected to provide statewide leadership – a Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Auditor, and Secretary of State. The career politicians who run for these offices from the other parties each run their own campaigns, with their own staffs and offices, campaigning on their own priorities and messages. Once in office they do the same thing. Each focuses on how to get re-elected or how to use their office as a stepping-stone for their political ambitions to higher office. As a result, Minnesotans are not getting all the leadership we are paying for.

Getting the results that Minnesotans demand takes focus – one agenda with everyone working on it. That takes a team, not a ticket. The five of us share a vision for a better Minnesota. We are independent-minded, have a track record of innovation and results, know how to get things done in government, and are true public servants – not career politicians.

We are coming together to seek the Independence Party’s endorsement and then run together as a team, with one campaign, one focus, and one set of priorities. Once elected, Team Minnesota will deliver both the results Minnesotans expect and all the leadership they are paying for.

[sing it with me, you know the words] “Minnesota – F*ck Yeah!”

Team Minnesota is a block of candidates who will represent the Independence Party in this year’s elections.  It’s not a bad idea, really — present a comprehensive plan for change to a disillusioned electoral that encompasses all of the major statewide offices (just what does the State Auditor do, anyway?).

Good luck to them … especially to their Secretary of State candidate Joel Spoonheim, with whom yours truly shared a graduation.
