They’ve clinched the N.L. East for the first time since ‘88. Boo-yah!

A few weeks after I arrived in Seattle from my hometown of New York, the Mets and Yankees faced off in the 2000 subway series. I watched the games from a bar stool at the Summit Pub near my friend Dave’s apartment (where I was crashing on the couch). It was a surreal, rootless time in my life.

With any luck, we’ll see a rematch of that Subway Series, or else a rematch of the ‘86 Mets - Red Sox series. Either way it’ll be awesome. And this time around I’ll have an actual bed to sleep on afterward. Sweet.
