The Mayor now claims he has an additional $2.6 billion for the viaduct replacement tunnel.
That would mean a total of $5bn in funds if it all comes through. Just goes to show you, if there’s a political will, there’s a way. Too bad there was no political will for the monorail… seems like the mayor could have bounced it out of poverty with a flick of his wrist!
Obviously the $800M from the RTID is the wild card here (the P-I has a better chart, btw). That one funding source would be nearly enough to pay for the viaduct on its own, and it’s far from guaranteed.
