My neighbors are throwing a wake tonight for one of Saturday’s shooting victims. So far, the Seattle Police Department seems more inclined to sift and analyze than panic. On the other hand, the Seattle Times Editorial Board senses a market opportunity and weighs in all Solon-like and calm:
…this event forces every parent of a teen or young adult to sit down and ask: Where exactly do you go at night? Do you really know the people with whom you are attending a party?
And truly, Fannie’s scribes are shining beacons that light our way.
At this point, our community has to rethink late-night activities of young people.
Asking questions for the ages.
One of the six victims was apparently a 15-year-old Bellevue girl. What precautions or rules could have helped her? Could anyone protect her at a private party at a private home?
Having strained it capabilities with the questions, the Times doesn’t have the energy to answer them. So before the TV news gets involved, I would like to offer a few suggestions.
The kids should be in church.
Perhaps the kids should be in school. Kids are safe from gun violence in school.
Maybe the kids should just worry less and go shopping at the mall.
