My Name Is George And I’m An Addict

As expected, the New York Times is running with the President’s oil addiction declaration, opining that Bush did not go far enough during the State of the Union. But after watching the Super Bowl* last night, I have to say that it was striking how many hybrid car commericals there were. And were it not for the SOTU and subsequent discussion thereof, I wouldn’t have known what “Flex Fuel” meant. So didn’t the bully pulpit work pretty well in this case? And if you’re skeptical of big government solutions to energy policy, couldn’t that actually be enough?

*Seattle was totally robbed, by the way. Holding? Pass interference? Let ‘em play — this is the Super Bowl!
