While I’ll be the first to admit that it’s easy to get carried away applying sports metaphors to real life, I’m intrigued by this year’s Super Bowl matchup, pitting “Old Blue” Dems Pittsburgh vs. “New Blue” Dems Seattle.
In a year that will prove to be a major test of the Democrat’s ability to thrive as a party — when, since ’92’s “It’s the economy, stupid”, have the Dems had such a soft target as this year’s scandal-ridden GOP? — here we have the party’s essential struggle played out on the gridiron. It’s labor, sausage, and the New Deal vs. technorati, lattes, and Lesser Seattle.
Bruno and I have more on this in this week’s podcast. Thought we’d bring this up before the traditional media beat it to death in the next two weeks.
