“Soft” Media

Michael Crowley makes a great point. When Parade magazine has turned against you, you’re really in trouble.

It echoes something I’ve thought for a long time: if liberals want to re-gain control of the message, the thing to do is focus on soft media. Forget about the conservative dominance of cable news shows. No one watches ‘em. As maddening as O’Reilly and Hannity are, their total audience is about 1/7th the size of the audience for a rerun of CSI. Most Americans don’t get their news from these hotheads, or from egghead center-left podcasts for that matter.

Americans get their news from Sesame Street, folks!. They get it from Parade, the Today Show, and their local news. These should be the targets of the liberal message-meisters. Think outside the box.
