Just saw one of the new Army ad campaigns, the ones that feature the kid telling his mom, “Mom, I just figured out how to pay for college…”
Is it overly cynical of me to assume there’s a link between this campaign and the GOP’s vote this week to cut $14.3 billion in student aid over 5 years? After all, the armed forces have been missing their recruiting goals of late.
“Mom, the House Republicans just destroyed my student loans to finance another round of tax cuts. But I think I found another way to get my degree. I just have to live through 3 tours in Iraq…”
Yeah, that’s pretty cynical.
