Four years later, we should ask: are we closer to the end or the beginning of this war? I’m going to read this tonight before I go to bed, and I hope it sheds some light. Looks like a downer of an article, and I’m not so down on our chances against this Osama guy. I still think we can beat it all back. But it’s going to mean fighting on our terms, not his. Getting drawn in to a long-term military presence in the Middle East has no doubt made us safer at home in the short term, but it’s shifted the problem more than solved it.
