A Tribute to the Pistons

Posted by Matski on June 23rd, 2005

As someone who hasn’t watched basketball in years, I want to give a hearty shout-out to the Pistons and Spurs, who put on one of the most entertaining Finals I’ve seen in a long time. Okay, so I admit that until the Pistons/Lakers last year, I hadn’t actually WATCHED the Finals in about a decade …

Nonetheless, as someone who grew up watching the Pistons beat the great legends of the game — Bird, Magic, Jordan, et al. — this was a great series. Well played basketball from two throwback teams. Even with only one especially compelling game (game 5 — a classic by any stretch), this was a great matchup, and a series for the ages.

Too bad the NBA can’t figure out how to make the rest of the season interesting. It’s probably telling that yesterday I was already planning my fantasy football league
