Time for Universal Healthcare Yet?

Yesterday I mentioned one reason for Republicans to embrace universal health care: making American businesses more globally competitive. Here’s another:so we can win the f*ing War in Iraq:

About 30 percent of the 4,500 guardsmen called to active duty were discovered to have dental problems so severe they were unfit to go overseas.

The problem, Washington National Guard officials said, was simple: Many guardsmen lacked dental insurance and were unable or unwilling to pay for care.

Can you say: “Support Our Troops?” Seriously folks, with the Army and Marines missing their recruiting targets left and right, including $20,000 signing bonusesyou’d think the least we could do is keep the guys who are willing to serve as healthy as possible, right? This is just common sense here, folks…
