The NY Times has an article up today where author Adam Nagourney compares the Bushes to the Adamses:
Yet inevitably, the events of recent days have fed the mystique of Mr. Bush as a reluctant inheritor of perhaps America’s most famous dynasty since the Adams family two centuries ago.
I always thought the Bushes were more like the Kennedys. Or maybe the polar opposite. If you believe, for example, that the country is run by two warring factions of ruling tribes, brokering power behind the scenes, then it makes sense that each family is the head of it’s respective tribe. Both are of Massachusetts lineage. The Kennedys made their money in liquor, the Bushes in oil (two distinctly American vices). Heck, you could even argue, if you were crazy, that George Bush Sr. killed JFK. I mean, is it just a coincidence that Kennedy was killed in Texas???
Then again, the Adamses were from Massachusetts as well…
Now Playing: Episode 366
Obama staffs up, Detroit comes to DC and finally, Iraq and the US come to a security agreement.
