More Screwed-Up Tales From The War on Drugs

Now, this is clearly a Matski story, because it deals with (1) the senseless War on Drugs, and (2), Flint Michigan. Nevertheless, I found it first…

So apparently “guilt by proximity” got written into the law while our backs were turned:

That’s right. In Flint, Michigan (and many other cities) if you go out dancing on a Saturday night and the police happen to arrest other people at the club for drugs, you could be charged with a drug crime even though you had nothing to do with drugs. These innocent party-goers now face up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.

Awesome. As far as I can figure, the point of this is to discourage people from going to clubs, in the hope of putting pressure on the clubs to shut down. Is it me, or does this sound a lot like the anti-choice protesters who threaten the lives of people who work at abortion clinics?

(hat tip: Reload)
