Iraqi elections were a sight to behold yesterday. Cheers to the Iraqi people for standing up to the insurgents and voting. They want control of their country back. They want the U.S. out. And yesterday they just took a big step towards showing us the door.
I know it’s been making the rounds, but this one is my favorite.
With any luck, in 50 years, they’ll grow into a robust, dynamic democracy, and then turn their backs on us just like Germany and France. ![]()

I’ve gone through so much trouble not to get pregnant so I don’t have to deal with the moral issues of abortion on personal level.
I’m thinking of a question that I struggle with in this discussion; why have an abortion in the first place?
You both make great points, however I feel there is one very important one that should be taken into consideration. What if I don’t want to go through the pregnancy? Am I entitled to just say no to the pregnancy? This is where the “it’s my body” statement comes into play.
Going through an entire pregnancy is hell on a body, especially if you’re as small as me, and then there’s going through the birthing process. Every doctor I’ve seen tells me that I will inevitably have a cesarean.
Another question is what about all of the child abuse that exists from parents who don’t want the kid they have.
Is it appropriate to discuss this issue with out considering the adoption agencies or foster care.
I hate to be so cold, but I’m not sure if the issue of abortion should be a moral issue. I think it’s the same mistake the Religious right makes in combining religion and politics. It may seem like law is an issue of ethics and morals, but I really don’t think it is. I thinks it’s practicality with how certain events effect our culture.
Of course I just got through reading a ton a Foucault, and I haven’t completely digested all of it. So take this comment for what its worth.
