Should we abolish the electoral college? Maybe. But I’m not convinced it’s in the Democrats’ best interest to do so. Abolishing the EC would mean more campaigning in the cities. Though that might increase turnout, it might also make the big cities more purple. Which would be much easier than trying to make the red rural areas more purple, simply because of density. So the Republicans might actually do BETTER in such a setup.
