I’m getting a bit nervous about the presidential election. Mickey Kaus might call it another Dem Panic Attack. But not the way you think. See, I’m woried about what happens when Bush’s support drops below 40%. Right now, Rasmussen has him down by 4 in a head-to-head. Other reports I’ve seen show Bush at our around 41.
Once he dives below 40, the campaign will start to get desparate. I don’t want to see what happens when Karl Rove gets backed into a corner. I fully expect to see John Kerry portrayed as an out-and-out atheist baby killer by then. There are those who claim that the anti-Bush crowd has been so malicious, that Bush needs to fight fire with fire. Hogwash. According to this WaPo article, 75% of Bush’s ads have been negative, versus 23% of Kerry’s! That’s staggering!
Actually, the baby killer crap is starting already. The lastest Bush ad criticizes Kerry for voting against the Laci Peterson Law, which, according to the ad, “protects women from violence.” Of course, it neglects to mention that the Law is really a trojan horse anti-abortion law which makes the killing of a pregnant woman into two crimes. Jesus, and they accuse Michael Moore of unsubstantiated innuendo? I don’t see how this ad is any worse than anything in Farenheit. Krugman’s right! Why should we hold Moore to a higher standard than the President? This administration is the all-time king of unsubstantiated innuendo!
Finally, if Bush drops any lower, it may be time to dump Cheney. Already, Newsweek’s showing Bush-Powell with a nine-point lead over Kerry-Edwards. It’s time for the left to lay off the Cheney criticism — it’s working TOO well!
